beautiful

I wish I could paint like this. It is so beautiful. I have been practicing water and sky for yrs. now and can't seem to make it look real. I keep overdoing it.

Reflections on life

One's eyes are drawn to the inverted reflection of the bridge, the foliage behind the bridge and the sky, the later two not shown above the bridge. A strong message is given by this detail, that is how one sees reflections of the environment that surrounds us without seeing the actual image, action or detail of the actual cause of the reflection. This "first impression" that one gains in life from the environment that surrouds us is, usually, the impression we count on as reality. This painting strongly shows that to me. Well done, Wilton Nelson! The colors, the blending, the capture of the subject (and even the patch of brown in the lower right corner) give a strong sense of completeness and clarity.

Monet's florida bridge

I love the top half of this painting. The lily pad leaves are a bit too separate for my liking. I would have had them in groups, with some overlapping and perhaps subdued the greens a tad, but overall a lovely painting.

Monet's Florida Bridge

I share Marion's view about the sandy bit on the lower right. It had patches of green grass among a lot of dead (brown/tan) grass and reeds on the sand base. I worked the area over several times and never was satisfied. Will more detail (like the dead blades of reed, etc.) improve the painting or distract because of the detail. I was told once that art judges look for all four corners to be different; don't know if that is true, but it did effect the result. These critiques are much appreciated and helpful. Thanks.

Strong colours and peaceful subject

Your colour choices are beautiful, I think. I wonder what would be the effect if they were a little less strong towards the distant part of your painting? I agree that the blue part of the river draws the eye, and then the reflections which are convincingly executed. I enjoyed your painting.
