Artist's Statement
I've been looking forward to this project all year, and then when the time came I couldn't think of anything to paint! I ended up using five items from around my house; two vases, two ornamental covered jars, and a pepper shaker.
I placed these items on my porch and took a picture in strong sunlight so that I would have well defined shadows. I'm unsure if my composition is good, not only in the arrangement of the items, but also in where they're placed on the canvas.
What I'd Do Differently
- Find a replacement for the tall vase because of the graphic design.
- Rearrange the grouping so that shadow of the tall vase doesn't overlap the shadow of the orange vase.
