Artist's Statement
I'm new to painting, particularly with oils. I've spent the summer in Spain and decided to bring a selection of water soluble oils to try whilst here. Looking at other submissions to the project, I was inspired to paint some of the colourful objects we've chosen to decorate the house -- I've loved the richness of the oils colours and having the time to be able to blend the paint.
I completed the painting in one session (of several hours). It is my first miniature and really enjoyed the challenge.What I'd Do Differently
- Not used 2B pencil to draw the composition - it smudged.
- Definitely work harder at ellipses - the jar makes me shudder!
- Add more background at the top.
- Must keep practising.
