"Gousblom". Acrylic on canvas. 410mm x 310mm
Artist's Statement
I'm still a trainee trying to find my forte. This was my first attempt with acrylic on canvas and I enjoyed painting it. I decided to try a fairly uncomplicated subject and think it worked out quite well.
Thanks for the challenges. It is a great idea and gives us the opportunity to try out new things. I will like to participate when possible. By reading the comments on art entered into the challenges, I have gained much more knowledge than I ever got from the couple of classes I attended. Thanks a million.
What I'd Do Differently
- I am quite pleased with the result. Will like to paint it again on a larger canvas.
Marion Boddy-Evans, Painting Guide, says:
I think you should indeed be pleased with the result. Though in terms of this project, having the fly in there detracts from the abstraction, it immediately reads as "real", rather than a pattern of colors and shapes, which a viewer may or may not read as a flower depending on their personal experience.
