Artist's Statement
I did sunflowers for the sunflowers photo painting challenge, but really didn't feel like it had the painting spirit. The yellows and greens are nature's colors and appealed enough that another painting with similar colors was necessary. So this is "Daisies".
What I'd Do Differently
- Daisies seemed to allow more flowers, hence more color. These flowers used three shades of yellow, some red, purple, dark brown and green (background) the gesso was mixed with a medium green and then a darker green was randomly stroked over it.
- You need to have lots of yellow if you want the painting to be yellow..
- Adding the purple to the center of the flower (mixed in wet with the brown) produced a satisfactory color when a small purple highlight was dabbed onto the center.
