Title and Medium
Abstracted Rose. 20x20", oil painting on gallery wrap canvas.
Artist's Statement
I did a painting of red roses all over the canvas and when finished thought it quite boring. Showed it in my gallery a couple of weeks - had no interest so brought it home to sit another few weeks. I finally got inspired when I read about the abstracted flowers and did some knife work using resin gel and lots of greens and just began making strokes - not caring because "what did I have to lose?". I left the essence of the roses and obscured or "pushed back" some more of the roses. I'm quite pleased with the results. Thanks for the boost of inspiration!
What I'd Do Differently
- I don' think I'd do anything differently. I like the results. I love the large rose rather peeking into the painting.
