What I Used for This Painting
Mixed media, acrylic, charcoal and pastels on canvas, 76cm x 62cm.
Why This Painting is My Favorite
The daffodils where a gift and we have had a long, cold, wet winter. It was officially the beginning of spring, but was still cold and miserable. I decided I would paint them as a celebration of the warm weather to come.
I remember leaving the house in frustration because it just wasn't working, after a walk and a chat, I came home and it just all came together. I really enjoyed painting it and I definitely felt I was taking a stand against winter.
It is now leaning against the wall in my studio with a painting of liliums that I did recently. I am considering doing a series of flower paintings, very unlike me.
