Fruit of the Vine

What I Used for This Painting

My favorite 2010 painting was one I did for "The Single-parent scholarship funds" fundraiser. I uses acrylic paint on canvas. The size of canvas was 24 x 18 inches.

Why This Painting is My Favorite

This was a still life, and I painted a peach and banana and a orange for the first time in all these years. I have painted fruit but not these various varieties. I added the wine glass and a cloth. It was auctioned off and made $500 for the scholarship fund. A local framer donated a frame and it accented the painting beautifully.

Lessons Learned

  • I struggled with the perspective of the wine bottle sitting directly behind the fruit. It would have been better to have omitted the bottle and not placed it in the painting. In the future I will remember sometimes, less is more! I don't need to add everything! The wine glass was added at request, but the bottle was not necessary.
