My Thoughts About This Challenge
I didn't think that I could do it when I looked at the photo, however with my largest brush I just started our loosely and left the whites as best I could. It was fun to do some negative painting, a bit of lifting and there was my path into the light or out of the light depending on your choice. I like to think that I am walking out of darkness and into the light.
Lessons Learned
- I learned that if i just do something without worrying about wasting paint and paper with an attitude of wanting to feel confident. I have always found that my best work is done with large brushes. I have gotten into such trouble with the small ones that make me think small and end up overpainting. This may not be a good painting but I am eager to know what you think.
Marion Boddy-Evans, Painting Guide, says:
I like the painting as an abstract(ion), for the colors and patterns, the sense of mystery to the shapes which upon closer inspection become trees. If you wanted a more realistic result, then it needs more tonal variation to give a sense of depth to the scene. But I wouldn't change this painting; I'd try that on another version.
