My Thoughts About This Challenge
I really wanted to emphasize the angles and the dilapidated and uninhabited feeling of the cottage. I liked the idea of seeing through the window, too. Loved playing with the hints of color, though I'm not sure they really show up in the photo.
Lessons Learned
- I'm not sure I totally nailed it. I think I want to try to do a black and white study of the same subject.
Marion Boddy-Evans, Painting Guide, says:
I think you've totally nailed the composition, and the sense of texture/color to the scene. Lots of interesting angles, none of which aligning with the edges of the canvas which then adds another line/angle to it. The view through both windows gives depth, and demands I move in closer to see if I can determine what's in the distance.
