Why I Painted It
This was the first time I ever painted a horse. My parents owned a race horse named Bo Hagley. He was my mom's favorite horse, so, she asked me if I could try painting a portrait of him for her. I said yes, and gave it a try. He is one of five paintings I did of him.
I did this painting back in 1999 from a photo.
What I Love About This Painting
I love horses because they are very muscular and I can really define that in my painting. They are very powerful, and beautiful animals. This painting is hanging in my living room right now. Both of my parents want this painting but I did make them different ones of their own, but this particular one came out the best. But, this one is mine.
Tips and Tricks
- I learned to do the sky and background with only using a paintng knife, and I love the texture it gave it. It reminds me to use this technique for any other sky paintings I may do in the future.
