What's on My Easel
An oil of a pug done a year or so ago. His feet were awful so I painted a fence to hide the feet. Now he looks bowlegged so I am thinking of making the fence higher. Who knows. When I am finished, he may be totally behind the fence.
What I'm Doing
Also working on some watercolours. The exterior of a bar on a quaint street in Valldemossa, Spain. Just completed a pretty chicken that I saw at our local fair. Have a large oil canvas on the go for a year now. Painted a black bear I saw at the local dump where I go fishing. Lots of things started so no excuse not to get at it. I like what I do most of the time but over the years I look back at paintings and see things that could have been done better and if they're not in a frame, I sometimes go back and fiddle some more. It's a great pastime and time flies when I am painting. I just find I become totally immersed in it and am so surprised to find how fast the time goes.
Advice
- If I had to choose only one medium, I'd choose oils. The colours are strong and if you don't like what you've done, you can scrape it off and start over or wait for it to dry and have another go at it.
