What's on My Easel
Winter is a lovely time to paint if your lucky enough to be in an area where you have snow. Lately, I have been painting, and sketching snow and trees in my area. I generally work mainly in pastel and oil.
This is the result of my studies. A finished pastel painting based on snow, trees, light, and shadows.
What I'm Doing
I like to achieve luminosity in a painting. To me, it brings the painting alive. Values are very important. Lights, and darks create the illusion of being able to draw the viewer into to the painting.
Advice
- My advise on painting snow is be subtle with your colors. If you are too drastic with your lights and darks it won't be a believable painting.
