Why I Painted It
I painted this picture of a friend of mine who was on the staff of Sandhurst at the time. The painting was done from a photograph as the subject has put on a few pounds since then. (You can see a bigger version of this painting on my website at www.stutheartist.co.uk.)
What I Love About This Painting
The subject was very pleased with the painting which was executed in Alkyd oils on Windsor and Newton canvas paper which because of the grain, allows more detail in the image. The finished painting measured 16" x 12".The only mistake I made was getting the medal ribbon colour wrong and thus I had to repaint it. It is now hanging in Dave's living room.
Tips and Tricks
- I learned that when you look at a photo, what you see isn't always colour accurate.
