It's a favorite spot nearby and the tourists love anything of the area.
What I Love About This Painting
I like the contrast of light and dark. It gives me a feeling of great depth into the woods. Beside the pond is an abandoned shack and feel that as I look at the smooth pond and weeds growing around it. I captured the "apricot" color in the woods. I love the play of light and the richness of colors.
Tips and Tricks
- I underpainted the canvas with a thin wash of transparent orange. When it was dry I began the painting, keeping the layers of paint thin and easy. I went back after everything was dry to put in the darkest darks thus getting the depth.
