Why I Painted It
When I first came to Australia I visited the Blue Mountains and was intrigued with the wonderful colours, so uniquely Australian. I had to capture them. But painting it was also a personal test as I find shades of green particularly difficult to get right.
What I Love About This Painting
I first painted this view over 20 years ago -- and I sold it! Due to family and work commitments I wasn't able to paint much during the following years and have only recently taken it up again. I wanted to see if I could repeat some of my successes.I found my reference photo and some of my sketches so thought I would see what happened if I tried again.
Tips and Tricks
- Keep painting, that's the main thing.
- Try to get some genuine feedback as it is easy to become locked in a rut and to repeat your mistakes.
- Try different approaches to a painting and new mediums. You will eventually find your comfort zone and then you are free to express yourself.
