Why This Painting is My Favorite
This is my favorite because I was able to create the shading and tonal variety I was seeking. I am also fond of the subject matter which was referenced from a magazine photo. It speaks to that sense of longing I think we all have for human contact, to love and be loved.
Lessons Learned
- For once, I was able to start light enough and build the shading and tones gradually enough to be satisfied with my results. This was the first time I felt that I was able to use the watercolors as intended and take advantage of the translucent qualities. Prior to this, I tended to use my watercolors very thick and much like acrylics.
