The Medium?
Not sure what to use.
The Problem?
Our church is building an indoor park for children. We want to paint a "stone" walkway on the carpet. Any suggestions for how to do this? Sherman Williams says their paint will crack and flake off because the carpet fibers move. They suggested using fabric dye; RIT says leave that to the professionals!
Advice
- I'm wondering if we could do it using fabric paint. Any suggestions on what to use or how to do it would be greatly appreciated!
Marion Boddy-Evans, Painting Guide, says:
It's certainly something I wouldn't tackle without doing a test on a spare bit of carpet to see how it works, and if it'll last underfoot. Most fabric paints need to be heat set to be permanent, so I'd look for dye rather than fabric paint. See if you can find any dye sticks, or dye spot-kits, designed for changing the color in a small area. But try it out first!
