Title and Medium
Apples, 12 x 9 inches, canvas paper
Artist's Statement
I like the idea of doing one painting every day. Although I will probably not be able to accomplish this, I'd like to try and therefore do more painting this year! I started my first painting with oil on canvas paper. I set up a light source and put some green cloth beneath the apples. I arranged the apples with the cloth and started painting. I had to decide on a background color but otherwise just painted what was in front of me.
I started with brushes and changed to a palette knife but used both to finish the painting. Since it is oil, I worked fast and decide to paint in one session.
What I'd Do Differently
- I may think about returning to the painting after it has dried and do some work on the cloth beneath the apples. Also I would like to do another setting with the apples and try to just use the paint brush, maybe do more blending.
