Do You Add a Date to Your Paintings
I added a date when I first started painting but since have found that only causes people to ask for something more current or a deal on that "old" one.
Do You Put Your Contact Details on the Back
I put a business card and my CV in an envelope that I give to the client.
Where Do You Sign Your Paintings
I sign on the side of my abstract wraps (canvas that wraps nicely around the support, usually 1.5" wide. If I sign on the front and have actually wired the painting for two different hanging ways, I try to sign on an angle.
How Do You Sign Your Paintings
I really had a dilemma or thought I did when I started painting again after marriage and decided to use only my first name. I use a Sharpie and lately metallic. Either silver or gold depending on the color scheme. I have seen other artists scratch their name into the paint... I may try that as well.
My name was unique for years... now I am dating myself... till a hand cream came on the market with the same name. I really liked the one name like the famous designer Vera. My name is Keri but I use the lower case when signing.
Advice
- After writing all of this I have decided that the signature on the front of the painting is important but signing the back with my full name may be an additional signature I need to incorporate.
