From the Artist: This project was a good way to get me to warm up to blue. It turned out much more graphic than I would have thought, but I'm warming up to that too. I wanted to attempt to make blue pop without the use of its compliment orange. I was tempted to yellow to go for three neighboring colors, but decided to just let it be blue and green in the end. It seemed cleaner that way. The blues I used were French Ultramarine Blue, Cerulean Blue and Indigo. Otherwise, I used perylene green and titanium white.

From the Painting Guide: This painting is an example of what I enjoy so much about the painting project submissions; people do unexpected and exciting things with the theme! It is quite graphic and seemingly straightforward in composition. I find it striking and compelling. As I looked at it, the horizontal band behind the blue orb turned from an abstract shape into a piece of windowframe, which in turn made the green background turn into "outside".

The very dark band at the bottom makes the other colors seem to glow more. I also like the placement of your signature. It pulls the viewer's eye into the bottom part of the painting while also creating a link between it and the rest of the painting. And, of course, makes for a very readable signature.
