From the Artist: In this painting I have used all the three colors, burnt sienna, lemon yellow, white, and pthalo blue. Titled My Store Room, it brings to my mind the memories of our old store room in my home village, far away.
I know that I could not use the colors effectively as I am new to this medium (watercolor) and I hope that I can do better next time.
From the Painting Guide: I think watercolor is both a hard and very rewarding paint. It's hard to hide mistakes in watercolor because it's such transparent paint, but it's also this transparency which makes it so wonderful to use. For instance, look at the colors you've created on the front wall, by mixing colors while they're still wet and painting over when they're dry. I think of such colors as 'complex colors': you can't get squeeze them out of a tube, they can be created only by the act of painting. With color like this, you're definitely off to a good start on your journey to explore watercolor.
Things to Consider When Looking at This Painting:
Backgrounds: Be careful when painting a background after something in the foreground that the brushstrokes don't create a feeling of the background going around the object, or of ending right next to something. A background needs a feeling of disappearing behind something, of continuing out of sight.
