From the Artist: It's the end of winter in Idaho. I wanted to recapture those warm, sunny days of summer. And I wanted to try out the new super heavy body acrylics now available from several manufacturers, also called high viscosity by some. I was happy with the way this turned out. It has a lot of feeling. The paint is perfect for knife painting.

From the Painting Guide: I haven't tried them yet, but I'd imagine the super-heavy body acrylics must work gloriously smoothly under a knife. Looking at the beautiful results you've got here, the sense of movement and shifting color in the water in particular, certainly make my fingers itch to try!

Things to Consider When Looking at This Painting:
Color and Mood: I'm sure it's aggravated by the sense of wind in the sails and memories of being cold and damp crew, but all those beautiful watery blues and greens give a sense of coolness to me, rather than a warm sunny day. Even the yellow on the deck and catching the edge of the sail seem cold to me. But maybe it's also because the seated figure seems to be wearing a beanie and long sleeves rather than a cap and t-shirt.
