From the Artist: Vibrant colorful vegetables itself is the inspiration for the painting.
This is first time I've tried painting with knife.
From the Painting Guide: I think this is a great choice of subject for a first knife painting because the range of textures in the vegetables lends itself to trying different effects with a knife. From the smooth stalks of the celery to the individual kernels of the corn and right down the tiny pips on the tomato, I think you've used your painting knife to full effect to capture and convey the texture, giving a sense of the individual character of each vegetable in paint.
Things to Consider When Looking at This Painting:
Shadows: When a subject is lit from the front (or directly from above) you tend to see very minimal shadows, but I would still expect there to be some shadow, particularly within a vegetable with multiple bits such as the broccoli. And for there to be a few more highlights, for instance on the aubergine which tend to have a shiny skin, not just on the pepper and tomato.
