From the Artist: I am a fairly new "senior" painter and have had lots fun of experimenting with different styles. I particularly enjoyed using the knife to show movement and reflection in this beautiful setting. I tried to use color to show movement of the water and the clouds.

From the Painting Guide: A painting knife is a great tool for conveying a sense of movement in water, it really lends itself to making a series of smooth lines with a ripple edge in a way a brush can't.

There are some really lovely things happening in this painting. The sense of movement in the clouds and the water, the touch of purple in the clouds being the same as in the water creates a unity to the composition, the sense of location and perspective by the greenery and beach in the distance.

Taking it One Step Further:
Solid Color: Compare the way you've used color in the water with the color of boat and its shadow/reflection. The former is more varied and broken; the latter is more solid and consistent in color. Given the movement in the water, I suspect the shadow would be more broken up on its edges, not such a definite shape.

You've a little reflected color from the water on the side of the boat; I would increase this -- exaggerate it even -- to try to get a sense of the boat sitting in in the water rather than on top. I would also make the ripples in the water smaller as they get further away, to increase the sense of perspective.
