From the Artist: I never considered painting with only a paint knife - it might be more effective with oils since the acrylic wasn't as thick as I'd have liked. It was fun doing it and I might try something larger.
From the Painting Guide: Your painting reflects the fun you had: it's bursting with energy and vibrancy. I've found that acrylics can vary quite a bit in stiffness depending on the brand - I've got one old tube of Winsor & Newton mixing white which is more like putty than paint! Another option is to buy some texture paste and mix this in with your paint to make it stiffer. It's very difficult to photograph a painting to get the texture: it needs to have light from the side rather than straight on so you get some small shadows.
