"Maldives from Air" by Pragash. 13x20 cm 5x8"). Water color on 300gsm NOT paper.
From the Artist:When I flew over the Maldives for the first time I was impressed by the emerald green atolls, white sands, and thick green coconut groves against the backdrop of intense blue deep sea. I took photographs and only a part is represented here in abstract form. Breaking waves between atoll and ocean and white sand formed a nice interface. Vertical strokes inside green water represent see-through coral reefs in atoll bed. A single coconut tree represents a grove. This is my first attempt, and criticism is welcome.
From the Painting Guide: This painting fulfills the aim of the project totally. Looking at the painting, I instantly feel a sense of tropical colors and bright sunshine.
Things to Consider When Looking at This Painting:
Taking it One Step Further: I'd be tempted to reduce the amount of detail on the leaves of palm tree, to take it down to the same degree of abstraction as the other parts of the painting.
