From the Artist: This is my abstract representation of a small piece of nature. I used watercolor paint to create a lively, bright painting simply called Green leaves. I always say to those that don't understand my paintings that I paint feelings and this is how I feel nature: in red, yellow, and green.
From the Painting Guide: A lot of people feel they don't "get" abstract art, that they don't know the "rules" for interpreting what they're looking at. I think your explanation is a good one. Another thing many people haven't realized, and which can give people a route into abstract art, is to explain that the color(s) itself is the subject.
Things to Consider When Looking at This Painting:
Interpreting a Painting: Does it matter if a viewer doesn't get the meaning or symbolism you'd intended in a painting? What if they interpret it as something completely different? Personally, I don't think it matters, provided they do have some sort of response (hopefully a positive one!).
