From the Artist: I wanted to create something different than just the usual butterfly painting. The background was done wet-wet and then the butterfly was painted and washed out on one side. I added the words because I thought it created a good contrast to the otherwise abstract painting.

From the Painting Guide: It's certainly different! Though I can't decide if the butterfly is morphing into being a butterfly or melting into something else. Which has meant it's kept me looking, one of the aims of a painting...

Things to Consider When Looking at This Painting:
Text on a Painting: Adding words to a painting directs the viewer's interpretation in an even stronger fashion than a title, simply because the viewer can't help but see it. (Whereas with a title some people deliberately don't look at it until after they've considered the painting.) One thing to be considered: will you use a language the majority of your audience is likely to understand?
