From the Artist: I live in a retirement community. Some buildings are two-story and some are three-story. This is the view from the third-story walkway looking south. As you see I am above the flag looking down.

From the Painting Guide: That's rather handy, you can easily get a dragon-fly's eye view on the world every day! (I was going to say bird, but then I thought many birds fly higher than three stories...)

Things to Consider When Looking at This Painting:
Color: Just look at the strong, saturated colors in this painting! Doesn't it immediately give you the sense of the intense sunshine and blue sky you get in some parts of the world? The intensity of a color is an important consideration, even if you're not doing it consciously. See The Three Sides to a Paint Color's Personality: Hue, Value, and Chroma

Painting a Series: I think it'd be fun to paint a series of this view. Starting with another version done at sunset or sunrise, in the golden light, and another at night, in dark browns and blacks (assuming of course there aren't too many night lights!) with the flag down. There's no reason why an idea for a painting should be used only once!
