From the Artist: I've used the challenge to do three paintings this month; this is the second, called Pig. It is about hope. Hope is when you feel very alone, perhaps a little overwhelmed and scared and looking up you suddenly realize you are part of a much bigger universe and someone knows what you are going through and cares.
From the Painting Guide: I wonder, is the choice of a pig meant to convey symbolism, or is it simply a favorite animal?
Things to Consider When Looking at This Painting:
Texture: Look at the texture surrounding the pig, how it contributes to the atmosphere in a painting. Without the texture, the color wouldn't be as effective.
Composition: If the position of the pig was a little more to the right, it'd fit the Rule of Thirds. This is is a quick and easy way to determine where to place a focal point in a painting in a way that's meant to be appealing to the eye. See Painting Composition Class: Rule of Thirds.
