From the Artist: This is the first painting I've done with oils; the reference photo is one I took in summer. I found it difficult to mix the paint to obtain the tones of greens I wanted because I only have a small kit of paints.

From the Painting Guide: Picasso gets quotes as saying it's impossible to get the green you really want: "They'll sell you thousands of greens. Veronese green and emerald green and cadmium green and any sort of green you like; but that particular green, never."

Different blues and yellows will produce quite different green, so if you're finding the set of colors you've already got isn't working well for you, I'd suggest buying another blue and a yellow to increase the possibly mixtures you can make. If you've got a yellow that's pale or lemony, buy one that's more orange. Buy a strong yellow/blue rather than a pale one as you can always add a little white into the mix to decrease the intensity of the color.

But looking at the green you have got, I'd say you could probably get additional tones that'd work for you by glazing over with some of the darker browns you've used in the buildings to add a little shadow within the tree itself.

Things to Consider When Looking at This Painting:
Composition: I like the composition with the church hiding behind the foliage, it feels as if I've stretched to see over a hedge to take a peep. Or the kind of glimpse you get when you're riding on the top of a double-decker bus.
