From the Artist: This is one of the small paintings I've done in a summer day; it took me a couple of hours.

From the Painting Guide: The painting has a very delicate sense of brushwork, and I particularly like the way the shadows are rendered, with a gradual shift in tone and without any hard edges.

Things to Consider When Looking at This Painting:
Reflections: There are a few perspective inconsistencies which makes it feels to me that the reflections were painted from imagination rather than from observation. For instance, the right-hand lemon goes off the top of the canvas, but not the bottom, while the middle one goes off the bottom but not the top. The left-hand fruit is also much rounder in its reflection.

Background: I'm not entirely convinced by the way the color changes to suggest foreground and background. To me the fruit feel as if they're floating in space somewhat. If the color had been the same (maybe with a shift in tone), the fruit might feel more as if it were sitting on a surface. Or maybe there should just be a shift in tone to darker, as well as a change in color?
