From the Painting Guide: In terms of the objective of this project, the person in the background picking the apples and the container for the picked apples draw the eyes from what should be the subject of the painting, the two beautiful, juicy red apples. The ladder on its own might have been enough. Maybe the background should be less distinct to give the apples more prominence.
Things to Consider When Looking at This Painting:
Composition: The edge of the barrel is right on the edge of the tree, kissing it. I would either overlap or separate the two would help this; overlapping would probably work better as this would mimic the overlapping of the two apples. The strong blue piece of sky at the top of the barrel isn't anywhere else in the painting; I would consider extending this a bit as at the moment it leaves me wondering why the sky would be so blue here and not elsewhere?
