From the Artist: I'm an beginner artist and would appreciate your comments about my work. I haven't yet defined my own style and want some opinions.
From the Painting Guide: For a beginner you've tackled one of the hardest subjects: reflective surfaces (the jug) and translucent surfaces (the glass). It's a painting with a pleasing serenity to it, with the still life setup looking natural. The bowl the strawberries are in looks cut out, though rather than three-dimensional. More shading and tone on it would solve this. Compare it to the juicy-looking strawberries, which have a great feeling of 3-d to them. The transparency of the glass has been handled well, but the jug behind it is (as with the bowl) rather two-dimensional. The shadows of the bowl and jug aren't in the same direction, which suggests multiple sources of light, rather than one source.
