From the Artist: I didn't feel the drops in Pansy Orchid were done as well as they should be, so I did this second painting, called Hibiscus Leaf. I like these drops much better but can see I need more practice doing them. Next might be just a leaf with drops on it.
From the Painting Guide: "Practice makes perfect" may be a cliche, but it's also true. With painting something realistically, such as painting water drops, it is a question of repetition and practice, of sticking with it and not giving up if it's not perfect the first time.
Things to Consider When Looking at This Painting:
Use of White: Be careful using pure white for a highlight as it can create a larger tonal contrast than you want. So for instance, instead of white on the leaves, try a pale green or green-yellow. And remember, tone is relative, not a fixed constant.
