From the Artist: Simply-Simplement was painted from imagination and memories. It dates dates back to 2005, but I enhanced it and improved the water drops for this project after reading the instructions on how to paint water drops. Happy painting everyone!

From the Painting Guide: Wow, what fabulously intense colors! It's a glorious painting, and I'm glad the water drops how-to article helped.

  • Starrpoint said: "A beautiful painting. It looks like the drop of water is pushing the canvas in!"
Things to Consider When Looking at This Painting:
Composition: The arrangement of your elements in a painting, or composition, is always a consideration, no matter what the subject is. Notice how your eye is down into and across the painting by the position of the stems, leaves, and strong reds in the bottom left/right corners. And how the positioning of the water drops causes your eye to pause, and draws it in closer.

Working a 'Finished' Painting: Once you've declared that a particular painting is finished and taken it off your easel, it's worth taking another look a week or two (or more) later. Seeing it with a fresh eye often reveals things that need tweaking or adjusting. Or, as Gerald did with this painting, revisiting it considerably later with new knowledge. If you're worried about overworking the painting, consider doing a second version.
