From the Artist: Here is a juicy fresh leaf fit for a caterpillar's lunch, the rain has also left a drink for the caterpillar. Bon appetite Mr Caterpillar.

From the Painting Guide: I love the imaginative title you've given the painting, and it's a very fine lunch for a caterpillar indeed. The water drop is very realistically painted, with beautiful colors that are true to the leaf it's resting on. Beautiful!

Things to Consider When Looking at This Painting:
The Painting's Background: This painting was done focusing on the water drop, and the background isn't painted to the same level of finish as the leaf or water drop. But that's the point of a study, to focus on one thing only, until you get it working for yourself, without the distraction of all the other elements that would be in a 'real' or 'final' painting.

To take it to the next stage, I would paint it again (practice makes perfect!) and add some context for the background. So either a stem that it's attached to, or have it lying on the ground. Adding some shadow underneath the leaf, and using colors that would be realistic to the environment the leaf would find itself in. Whether it would be as detailed as the leaf or whether it would be simplified/abstracted, I'm not sure. Possibly two versions to try both.
