From the Artist: I usually work with acrylic paints on box canvas, but sometimes like to experiment with different media. I'm influenced by the Abstract Expressionists of the 40s and 50s, so my paintings tend to be 'about' something rather than 'of' something. I admire Van Gogh's work and am interested in his life story. I did this painting with him in mind and I thank him for his inspiration. In my work I'm interested in the abstraction of mother nature, and the separation of strong solid colors. Bold vivid coloring and my refusal to use a paint brush are some of the boundaries I work to.
From the Painting Guide: Without Van Gogh leading the way away from the dominance of realism in art, who knows whether we'd have had Abstract Expressionism? To me this is reminiscent of close-up view of one of his night skies.
