From the Artist: I've always loved Van Gogh's painting Starry Night. In my tribute to Van Gogh I combine the sky of Van Gogh's painting and a landmark of my lovely city Old Sanjuan, la Capilla del Cristo.
From the Painting Guide: I love the way you've used Van Gogh's famous Starry Night sky, adapting and changing it to fit the landmark you've chosen.
Things to Consider When Looking at This Painting:
Use of Color: Look at how the blues and yellows are used throughout the painting, unifying the whole composition but also creating areas of interest to your eye. At how the light radiating from the lamp on the right is treated in the way the light from the stars is, unifying the foreground and background.
Look at the juxtaposition of the curves in the top half of the painting and the straight lines in the bottom. How the vertical elements (tree, lamp etc.) join and pull together the two sections of the painting, unifying the composition.
