From the Artist: Never tackled a card before but as I did the expressive portrait last year thought I would give it a go. An idea came to me of someone offering up their heart, the ultimate gift (silly romantic that I am!) and a picture of a lady of indeterminate time and style came into my mind (maybe influenced by my liking of the works of Patricia Govezenski) so I painted it in a fairly relatively short time -- about an hour.
I dare say I could have worked on it more in terms of colour particularly and composition -- but I quite liked it when finished and hope the feeling came across. I enjoyed doing it which is , for me, the ultimate reality. I paint for pleasure not for selling as I know I haven´t the talent other painters on this gallery possess. I just love the challenges and inspiration as I haven´t the ideas often to spur me to paint.
