From the Artist: This is another acrylic painting done on a plastic tray which I remember picking up at a garage sale. I base-coated the inner part with black gesso.
The birch is done with a very thick application of titanium white that I applied with a palette knife. When partially dry, I flattened any bumps and made indentation to resemble birch bark. The colors would no doubt be further enhanced by varnishing, but it isn't dry enough yet.
From the Painting Guide: If you put a gloss varnish on it, it will indeed enhance the colors, making it an even richer scene. Great choice of tree species for the tray, with the white of the bark echoing the white of the edge.
