From the Artist: My grandsons are singing "school's out for summer" and I am remembering how eagerly I approached summer vacation. When I was very lucky, we'd spend days at the beach and play in the dunes until sunset. Swimming and sunning and hide and seek and wishing the day were longer. This painting is my memory of that beach.
From the Painting Guide: Definitely the smallest painting in this project gallery! I admit, when I set the dimensions to be "at least twice as wide as tall" I hadn't visualized a miniature, but of course there's no reason for it not to be. Part of me can't help wondering what a psychologist might make of painting such a happy memory so small though...
