From the Artist: Lately I've been fascinated by the sky, our changeable weather, the movement of clouds and their shadows as I drive along. So I tried to catch the fleeting appearance of the clouds and their shadows on the ground.
From the Painting Guide: I have a strong preference for landscape paintings that lean towards abstraction, that make the most of strong shapes and patterns found in nature, so no surprise that I like this pastel of yours. I like the division of the composition into a third green and two-thirds blue. The broken line of the trees and the way the clouds above this lead your eye up.
I did wonder if there ought to be a little more shadow on the bottom of the clouds themselves, rather than having them all so light at the bottom. Particularly given the strong shadows cast in the foreground by unseen clouds which implies clouds that are solid and large enough to block the sun completely, not just whispy ones. But then if the sun is coming from behind the viewer, it wouldn't.
