From the Artist: I am trying for a painting done in the "Fauvism" style but have no real input as to how to do this. This is a local beach scene which I hope obeys some of the laws of Fauvism and shows the brilliance after a sudden squall.

From the Painting Guide: To me one of the main characteristics of Fauvist style is the intense colors that don't worry about being realistic colors but rather are used to convey the sense of a scene. And that's what I think you've done here, conveying a sense of that bright light after the world has been "washed" by rain and the sun's then come out again. I also like the strong tonal contrast, with the extreme dark in the trees in the background providing a powerful backdrop to the scene.

Things to Consider When Looking at This Painting:
Composition: Look at how both the strong lines in the composition and the use of color draw your eye into the painting, towards the houses. How the large areas of black in the foreground and background frame the main subject of painting.
