From the Artist: While walking one day it occurred to me that at moments nature's colors truly are in primaries, as unbelievable as it may seem. This is how my heart responds to these autumn colors... with joy!. As you can see I am still a very childish painter but I enjoy it that way.

From the Painting Guide: Not childish, the art term is naive or primitive artist, someone who does their own thing, uninhibited by formal lessons drilled in by an art instructor. What's that Picasso quote about painting like a child? "Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up."

For me your painting had a wonderful sense of autumn to it, of the changing colors in the leaves and of them blowing off the trees in the wind. I love the little bits of blue in the vegetation underneath the trees, as if bits of sky were also blowing around (of course it also ties the parts of the painting together visually, but that's practical art speak, to me it's more like a bit of visual poetry).

Have you ever looked at the work of Gustav Klimt, who did various paintings of forests where all you see are tree trunks and leaves, the colors of which depend on the species of tree and season. Also contemporary artist Wolf Kahn, who works in oils and pastels.

Things to Consider When Looking at This Painting:
Composition: Notice how the tree on the left goes off the edge of the painting, yet your mind fills in what's missing. It creates a sense of the scene continuing, of this being just a glimpse into it.
