January 2009 Painting Project: A Color and Its Complementary

Challenge yourself with this painting project.

From Marion Boddy-Evans, About.com

It's easy to get seduced by the beauty of color into using loads in a painting. But that's not a recipe for success. As the cliché has it, less is indeed often more. This project restricts the number of colors you can use (though not the subject of the painting) to a single primary color, its complementary, and white. It'll show you how much can be done with not even a handful of colors. Read the project instructions, then get painting!
