From the Artist: I painted this an evening we were out on the lake in our boat!
From the Painting Guide: You painted this on a boat?! Now that's plein-air painting with a difference! I guess it was a fairly calm evening, and that you didn't need to take along water for your paints.
Things to Consider When Looking at This Painting:
Use of Brush Strokes: Both the trees and the foreground have a lovely feeling of texture and a sense of brush strokes, with the trees also having a great feeling of height, of them looming up above you, stretching towards the sky. I'd be interested to see the same scene with some echo in the sky of the brush strokes of the trees and the diagonal strokes in the foreground; I think this would add to a sense of the light radiating out from its source on the horizon on the left and create a bit more unity between the sky and the other elements.
