From the Artist: The view of Springfield (Massachusetts, USA) from the South End Bridge includes the Basketball Hall of Fame, which is the rather futuristic dome and white tower in the foreground. I wanted to show the contrast between the much older, traditional high rise buildings and the old church steeple in the background, and the ultra-modern look of the Basketball Hall of Fame. By painting the shapes, while leaving out details, I think my painting conveys the feel of the city. This was a lot of fun, and I'm pleased with how the painting came out.

From the Painting Guide: I'm delighted to hear you had fun with this project and I think this shows in your painting. There's a sense of liveliness to the brushmarks in the foreground and sky, as well as the intriguing mixture of SciFi-like shapes against the more conventional rectangular buildings.

Part of me wonders whether the composition gives too much space to the foreground and whether there should be something in the bottom right-hand corner to balance the weight of the buildings at the top. But I'm obviously not familiar with the location and it may be inappropriate.
