From the Artist: Having visited this area and took some photos, I wanted to capture the atmosphere of the tourists making their way from the bridge to St Paul's Cathedral in London. It seemed rather daunting at first, but once started I really enjoyed this abstraction bit, perhaps that's because I'm not very accurate at drawing. I intend to try some more in this style.

From the Painting Guide: By "accurate" drawing I assume you mean realistic, in proportion and in perspective drawing. That's just one style or approach, and produces artwork with quite a different feel to the painterly feel you've got here.

I think the soft edges create a fabulous sense of walking over the bridge to St Paul's, of how people are rushing around you. Of all your attention being on the cathedral and the other buildings blurring together. I think you've a perfect balance between abstraction so a viewer is drawn closer to study the painting, to pause and think about what they're seeing, and enough suggested detail to make closer observation rewarding.

Things to Consider When Looking at This Painting:
Composition: Notice how the figures in the foreground form a triangle which leads your eye into the back of the scene. How the negative space at the top (sky around the cathedral's dome) echoes this triangular shape, and also leads your eye in. This is further emphasized by the direction of marks (lines) in the buildings and clouds in the sky
